VISION NORTHWEST IN THE NEWS

New Class now forming:  THERE IS LIFE AFTER VISION LOSS.

Are you or a family member new to vision loss and wondering how you or your family member can maintain independence?  Vision Northwest is now hosting a new class that will focus on learning new ways to do old things, what the changes will mean for you, and how to have a full life.  Classes will be held the first 2 Tuesdays of each month, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, in our office. Tuition is $25.00 per person.  Class titles for the first week are:  Introduction to Independent Living, and Navigating Your Environment. The second class will be You Can Do It Yourself, and Taking Charge of Your Life.  Classes are now forming for the next session. Registration is required.  You can call us to register or send an email to info@visionnw.com with your name, address, phone number, the date of the class you want to be in, and how many people will be attending.

SPECIAL EVENTS:

Vision Northwest's Second Annual Gala Dinner and Auction, "The Eyes Have It" was held on April 5, 2008 at the beautiful atrium in Montgomery Park in Portland, Oregon.  Tables accented with Gerber yellow daisies set the golden tone as over 120 guests wined, dined, and bid on the many donated items available through silent or oral auction.  Delicious hors d'oeuvres were served plus a wonderful dinner of chicken with seasonal herbs catered by Food in Bloom.  Excitement built as the auctioneer took the oral bids on the wonderful donated packages including golf trips, two 1970 vintage Rothschild bottles of wine, and a special getaway to Seaside.  Over 450 items for the silent auction were bid on throughout the evening.  Vision Northwest is pleased to announce that about $70,000.00 was raised.  Many thanks go out to the over 90 volunteers, to the Vision Northwest Board, to the special auction planning committee, and, of course, to the Vision Northwest staff for working so hard in planning, organizing, and hosting such a fun and successful event. 

Our second annual Big Elk Blue Grass
Festival and Bar-B-Q will be held on July 12, 2008 at Rosse Posse ranch in Molalla.  Tickets will be available in May by calling us at 503 684 8389.  Check here for information updates.  This is a great way for your whole family to support Vision Northwest.

The 5th Annual Eye Open Golf Tournament will be coming up again in September 14, 2008 again with Columbia Edgewater Country Club.   More information will be available here as soon as we can get it posted.
